Makajawan 2014 Week 3 and Week 4 Scribe Report

Posted on Jul 29 2014 - 7:26pm

SCRIBE NOTES FOR MAKAJAWAN 2014
Week 3 started on Sunday, July 6 with the Scouts setting up their tents and cots and then on to the Med Check and Swim Test. After the Swim Test, boys returned to camp to rest until Flag Retiring and dinner at the Dining Hall. Weather was rainy and thundering, so the cook’s tour (tour of all the activity areas) did not take place on Sunday evening. In addition, the opening campfire was moved indoors to the dining hall. Monday started off with 7:50 am flag raising and breakfast. Boys then headed off to their merit badge sessions. The new block schedule had two hour sessions either Monday, Wednesday and Friday being an A, C and E schedule or Tuesday and Thursday being a B and D schedule. In the evening there were open activities in the program areas. On Tuesday nights, all the program areas were closed for First Aid/CPR training that is required for most merit badges. The week ended with the OA (Order of the Arrow) bowl. The OA bowl has a huge fire and Indians who pull elected OA candidates from all the Scouts sitting around the fire. The OA candidates leave for a 24 ordeal. The boys and adults pulled from Troop 48 were Bill Avery, Jon Beneteau, Mr. Beneteau, Lennart Droege, Chris Guido, Matthew Koller and Cathal O’Sullivan. James Buckardt and Mr. Buckardt, Alex Thoms and Marc Antonucci were pulled for Brotherhood.
