Scribe newsletter- JAN thru MAY 2013

Greetings Troop 48!
This previous term has been an awesome one. The majority of scouts advanced a rank in the past three months, some even advancing two or more! Scouts enjoyed 3 fun campouts organized by Mr. Buckardt. In February scouts went to Muskegon, Michigan to luge on the most public luge track in the country. They went caving in the mysterious Eagle Cave in Wisconsin. At our last campout of the term we went climbed and teambuilded at Geneva Lake. But these adventures weren't the only things we did. In February we had our first Pancake Breakfast to raise money to buy an AED device for the Legion Hall. We made styrofoam sleeping pads and fleece hats to prepare our troop for chilly winter campouts. Older scouts started preparing for the 2014 Philmont Trek and got ready for the National Scout Jamboree this summer. We also welcomed a large group of new Boy Scouts to Troop 48 this year. Thanks for a great term guys! Keep on Scouting!

Kettle Moraine Backpacking campout

Posted on May 7 2013 - 4:39pm

Start: May 17 2013 - 6:00pm
End: May 19 2013 - 5:00pm
Location:
Kettle Morain Southern Unit - Ice Age Trail
Event Details:
A mere 15,000 years ago during the Ice Age, much of North America lay under a huge glacier. Mammoths, saber tooth cats and cave lions roamed the earth! Some of the best evidence of this glacier is found in Wisconsin such as the State’s many lakes, river valleys, gently rolling hills, and ridges. The nearly 1,200 mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail, established in 1980, traces the “Wisconsin Glacier’s” edge.
