Volunteers Needed to Serve ‘No Dough Dinner’ on May 6th at Great Lakes Naval Base. 4:30 pm departure from the American Legion Hall

Now that we’ve reached our fundraising goal for this year’s pancake breakfast – we’re getting ready to put the funds to use through Troop 48’s sponsorship of a No Dough Dinner on May 6th held at the USO Center at Great Lakes Naval Station. The No Dough Dinner will serve 200-300 Navy recruits. Ninety percent of the military customers that utilize the USO Great Lakes Center are Junior Sailors that are at Naval Station Great Lakes, temporarily, attending military specialty schools.

Eagle Project announcement-Jimmy Holmes

Posted on Apr 22 2014 - 8:15am

Troop 48,
I need your help in replacing and repairing the Flag Poles for the American Legion over the next three to four weeks. For my Eagle project, we will be sanding all of the current (500) flag poles and then dipping them in a water proofing agent that will allow them to be useful for many years to come. We will also be replacing around 70 flag poles that will need to be sealed, dipped and have new flags attached to them. I will need about 10 people to help in sanding, moving, sealing, and replacing flag poles in to the trailers for each of the below events. Please sign up on the website.
