Eagle Project announcement-Jimmy Holmes

Posted on Apr 22 2014 - 8:15am

Troop 48,
I need your help in replacing and repairing the Flag Poles for the American Legion over the next three to four weeks. For my Eagle project, we will be sanding all of the current (500) flag poles and then dipping them in a water proofing agent that will allow them to be useful for many years to come. We will also be replacing around 70 flag poles that will need to be sealed, dipped and have new flags attached to them. I will need about 10 people to help in sanding, moving, sealing, and replacing flag poles in to the trailers for each of the below events. Please sign up on the website.

To answer a few common questions among new scouts, and experienced scouts, about Advancement please refer to the tab "Advancement" under the menu on our website. Also, there are "files" that contain information regarding Merit Badges and Merit Badge Counselors, under the tab "files" and "Advancement".

CPR training

Posted on Apr 15 2014 - 4:10pm

The Troop is offering a CPR training class on Sunday, April 27th at 1pm. The training will be held at the American Legion and will last 3-4 hours. A Lake Forest fireman named Cory Kazimour will be leading the training. It is appreciated that this is a campout weekend, as well as an adult training weekend, but, we need a certain percentage of the Troop leaders to be trained at every event, so it is important to participate.

Backpacking Weekend: Kettle Morain Scout Trail, treading the ground that Mammoths roamed!

Posted on Apr 15 2014 - 4:08pm

Our April campout will be backpacking where Mammoths, Saber Tooth cats and Cave Lions once roamed as we hike along Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail in Kettle Moraine State Forest Preserve South Unit. Our “Base Camp” is Pinewoods Campsite D, from which patrols will have three trail options to explore on Saturday including part of Wisconsin’s Ice Age Trail. You’ll see many of the remains of the Wisconsin Glacier which created the Great Lakes and know you are treading where dinosaurs once roamed.
