Greetings Troop 48!Lake Forest Day is a ways off yet, but now is the time to sign up!
As many of you know, Troop #48 assists the American Legion Post with the Lake Forest Day parade and carnival. The Troop helps sell raffle tickets, post flags and by setting up, staffing booths and tearing down the Lake Forest Days festival. Lake Forest Day presents a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate leadership AND earn service for advancement and Citizenship in the Community merit badge. For those under 1st Class, volunteering will also count as a Troop or Patrol activity! Take a look at the signup pages on the website and sign up for the Parade and to work the LF Days concession stand. All scouts are asked to participate in the Parade. PLC members, by nature of Leadership agreements, are committed to participating in the Parade. We will also need Adult Leaders available to supervise the Parade and LF Days concession sales.

Memorial Day Ceremony and Flag Posting

Posted on May 25 2017 - 7:18am

Troop #48 helps the American Legion post flags by each veteran’s grave site on Memorial Day Weekend. On Friday, 5/26, from 4 – 5 PM, the Legion needs help at the Fort Sheridan cemetery. On Saturday, 5/26, they need help from 8 – 10 AM at Lake Forest Cemetery. Scouts are encouraged to participate in these activities to show respect for our fallen veterans and to support the American Legion. Participation in flag posting counts as a Troop or Patrol activity AND qualifies (partially) as demonstrating Leadership and Scout Spirit for advancement. Please register on the website if you can attend.
